Connectivity services are on the rise – car sharing, white-glove service, and subscription-based car ownership to name a few – but before they can gain widespread adoption, we need a reliable trust model among stakeholders. Blockchain holds tremendous promise with its secure distributed ledger, decentralized way of clearly defining accountability and liability, and ability to confirm digital identities of various stakeholders. But how will blockchain technology impact the car – will it allow for new car sharing models, advanced car production and telematics, as well as trusted insurance and registration systems, among other innovations? This panel, moderated by Roger Lanctot from Strategy Analytics, talks to leaders using blockchain today, and solicits their views on how and why blockchain will play a major role in the auto industry’s transformation.
